Agriculture Zoning

Public participation in the agriculture committee report presentation last night gave a clear picture that change is needed. It was said that Agriculture Reserve (AR) zoning came into effect in 2000. It was apparent we need to address the restrictive nature of this zoning and take factors into consideration which may not have been foreseen at that time. The Municipal Planning Strategy is a dynamic document, and as such, is subject to change and revision. I will bring this matter forward this month. Staff should be commended on the report and presentation they put together as a direct outcome of meetings of the Agriculture Advisory Committee.
