Braden Langille Race Car Driver
Wed Sep 29, 9:01 AM
Shubenacadies own young rising star Race Car Driver Braden Langille has just completed another great season in the Velocity # 1 Car. Braden who is just 9 years old took Rookie of the Year award in 2009 in the Bandolero Division.
His 2010 season was another great year for him with 5 Heat wins and came 4th in the overall Season Points Race. It is a family affair with Dad Craig making sure everything is ready and his company Velocity is also the sponsor for Braden's car.
Now it is back to hockey for the season with try outs and he has been selected for the Atom AA team for the 2010 / 2011 season.
It is so important for our kids ot have the opportunity to be busy wiht positive activites like sports, the arts and group activities.
Our congratulations to Braden and his family and we wish you BIG things for 2011...

Lions Clubs Supports Shubie Pool & Park
Wed Sep 01, 6:57 AM
The Lions Club has been helping people and communities for many years and thanks to their generous support we have had another sucessful season at the Shubenacadie wading pool which closed for the season today. This year we were able to install power, a pump and filtration system, and we will be installing a new roof. These improvements were made because of a very generous donation from the Shubenacadie Lions Club of $ 1500.00, donations of equipment and chemicals from McBurney's Pools and Spas and Municipal funding. The money donated by the Lions club helped us buy supplies to fix up the playground and paint the 2 dug outs and cover additional costs not covered by government grants.
I would also like to thank Rebecca MacLoad who worked as our Lifeguard this summer and all the Lifeguards form the East Hants Swimming Pool who came over to help.
In the picture: Dennis MacDonald, Robert Nolter, Bernadette Matthews, Felicia Matthews, and Mel MacPhee.
Missing Lion members in the picture are Willie Courtney, Bernie Smith, Walter Wilson, Sean Norwich, Rudy Sandness, and Bob Dooks.
