Shubie Hay Days - What a GREAT Day

Sat Jul 02, 10:35 PM

hay_days_little_girl_lr_2011_245It started with The Legion Breakfast and their team did a great job and they had a great number of people come and enjoy breakfast.

The Classic Car Show was amazing and Allan and his team did a great job.  They had so many cars that they had to park some on the street.  We heard there was 200+ cars... Wow... and some great ones.  The United Church did there BBQ and Strawberry Shortcake and sold out both events.

The Hay Days / Canada Day Parade was one of the biggest and best in a few years.  Thanks to all the Businesses and Groups that participated. hay_days_tractor_2011_184

The Tin Shop Museum and Craft Shop did a great job entertaining people on the streat - Tattoos - selling the Shubenacadie T Shirts - have you seen them yet - there are only a few left at $15 each.  They are a great design and promote shubie.

Down at the park the crowds gathered for the Bouncy Toys and the kids really enjoyed that - Richard Ashton kept things dancing and moving along smoothly.  There were also pony rides -K9 Flyers - Bernadette Matthews did a great job with some of these things as well as the wading pool.

Jerry Williams coordinated the Tug of War again this year and it was great fun with the stands full of family and friends cheering on the participants.

The supper at the Community Hall was nicely done by Lighthouse Ministeries and their team.

Haliday Barbershop had a Blue Grass Band and people enjoyed while gathering for the Fireworks.

The band Riverdance that played in the park was great as well.

We hope you all enjoyed the day as much as we did.  I am sure we missed some of the events but everyone worked very hard to make it happen - 100s of volunteers.

We need to provide a special Thanks to the Hay Days Committee - Marilyn Doucette - Christine Barr - Jerry Williams - Bernadette Matthews - Amanda Giles Malloy - Corrine Giles - Richard Ashton - Ged Stonehouse - we also need to put a big thankyou out there for Councillor Pam MacInnis who jumped in where ever she was needed...

Thank you everyone...
