Tracy Acknowledges New Welcome to Shubie Signs

Sat May 19, 10:51 PM

Note from Tracy

This is awesome! I am coming home after the Olympics, hopefully for good smile

So I will have to have do something to thank the village; this is quite an honour. It brought tears to my eyes when I saw it for the first time!

We are leaving Italy today, enroute to Switerzerland for the World Cup regatta. Races (heats) begin on Friday with the finals on Sunday. Lindsay and I are ready and rearing to go!!!

Thanks Ged."

New Welcome Signs a Welcome Site

Have you seen the great job that has been done on our Village Welcome Signs.  The Shubenacadie Community Development Association took the lead on this project and have done a GREAT job.  The addition of honouring our own Olympian TRACY CAMERON is a great addition as well.  With Tracy competing in the London 2012 Olympic Games the timing couldn't be better.  Again we thank the SCDA for this effort.

Thanks to some special people...

Allan MacLeod Jr. was pleased with all of those that worked so hard on this project. George Searle, Joe Van De Riet, Tim & Shirley Peach as well as Wayne Langille.  Jennifer Marlow prepared the wonderful Tracy Cameron additions and we thank her for that.

Great job to all of your that helped.  Thanks from all of us.

They also coordinate the Flower Baskets along Main Street, the MacInnis Trail and MacCools Park.  We appreciate very much all of their efforts. shubie_sign_utt_5_lr_180_01 shubie_sign_tracy_2_lr_180

Clean Up Day Saturday was a GREAT SUCCESS - THANKS

Sat May 12, 7:21 PM

christine__pam_clean_up_120The day was perfect.  The team of volunteers that arrived were small in numbers but BIG in HEART and EFFORT...  There was a lot of projects to do and many got finished...

  • Work around the Ball Field - Terry was there leading the crew on the Ball Field - cleaning up the playing surface - weed wacking - painting - clean up
  • Work will be done on the Ball Field Building - that is coming up and Derek is leading that - new siding - new roofing - washrooms fixed up - snack bar - he also was the lead weed wacker for the day
  • Clean Up - Pam, Betty & Christine lead the clean up crew - picking up garbage around the park - the Boy Scouts were down earlier and picked up 20 bags of stuff - it looks great
  • Play Gound - Philip, George, Gerry, Ged, Betty - clipping the grass around the play equipment - cleaned the grass and weeks out of the pea stone - raking it all

We had some great sponsors help us out as well... gerry_george_phillip_ged_120

  • Time Hortons - provided coffee and Tim Bits
  • Philip from Vogue Optical Elmsdale - bottles of water and some gifts for workers
  • Christine - Lighthouse & Community Centre - provided refreshment service

We would like to thank each one of you that came to help today.  We would like to encourage more volunteers from Shubie over the next number of weeks as we are working on some more projects around the Park.

  • June 23 - we will be having another Park Clean Up in Preparation for Canada Day

Thanks Everyone
