Groundhog Day Presents GREAT News - Early Spring

Tue Feb 04, 5:46 PM

There was a great turnout at the Wildlife Park to witness Shubenacadie's Sam's prediction of an Early Spring.  There was a big crowd and everyone had fun with facepainting - hot chocolate and all.  The Wildrife Park did an excellent job hosting the event.

The East Hants Town Cryer, Anita Benedict and Piper did a great job announcing the special event.  Anita also assisted welcoming people at the Legion.

The Shubie Lions and Shubie Legion combined their efforts to put on a great breakfast.  About 200 people enjoyed the breakfast.

Our own Olympic Metal winner Tracy Cameron was the guest of honour.  She came with her family including her new little daughter Olivia.  Tracy has spent many years competing all over the world and always bragging up the fact that she is from Shubenacadie Nova Scotia.  We were able to present her with a recognition from

  • Albert Flemming - East Hants
  • Margeret Miller - our MLA - who also presented a letter from Premier Stephen MacNeil
  • Priminister Harper also sent along words of congratulations
  • Shubie Village - presented a plaque honouring Tracy as the Village Ambassador

The Tin Shop Museum was open for tours as well and the movie Groundhog Day was at the Community Centre.

A special thanks to all who volunteered their time to help make it a great day.  Thanks to Albert for his support for the promotional pieces.
